Under the Control of Asbestos Regulations 2012, the duty-holder must manage asbestos-containing materials in non-domestic premises and common areas — which means periodically re-inspecting known ACMs and keeping the asbestos register and management plan up to date.
A re-inspection is a repeat of the same assessment against a known list: locate each material, re-score its condition, note any change and update the register. Repetitive, evidence-led and recurring — a natural fit.

What a re-inspection records
For each known material the surveyor confirms its location, re-assesses its condition and surface treatment, records any deterioration or disturbance since the last visit, and updates the risk rating and the recommended management action.

What is an asbestos re-inspection?
A periodic re-check of asbestos-containing materials already identified in a management survey, to confirm their condition has not deteriorated and to keep the asbestos register and management plan current, in line with the duty to manage.
Does this replace a management or refurbishment survey?
No. Re-inspection covers routine re-checks of known materials. Intrusive management and refurbishment or demolition surveys are a separate, specialist activity.
