Since the Fire Safety (England) Regulations 2022, responsible persons for many multi-occupied residential buildings must carry out routine checks of fire doors — quarterly checks of communal doors in buildings over 11 metres, and annual best-endeavour checks of flat entrance doors. Every check has to be recorded.
It's the same set of checks on every door — the gaps, the seals, the hinges, the glazing, the self-closer, the signage — repeated across a building and then the next one. The inspection is quick; it's the writing-up that drags.

What a fire door inspection records
Each door is assessed against a consistent set of criteria — the gaps around the leaf, intumescent and smoke seals, hinges and fixings, glazing and beads, the self-closing device and signage — with photographs evidencing anything that fails.
The value is a clear, per-door schedule the responsible person can act on, plus a defensible record that the check was carried out and when.
